Advisory regarding Consular Services

In view of Portuguese government’s decision to close schools and restrict public gatherings to control the further spread of corona virus pandemic, it has been decided to temporarily suspend all public dealings at the Consular Section of the Embassy with immediate effect until further notice. All the existing appointments stand cancelled w.e.f 16.03.2020. All the applicants are therefore advised not to visit the Embassy. They should only send their documents for Consular services through Post/CTT by choosing the Send by Post option in the existing Sampark Appointment System. (https://www.eoilisbon.gov.in/sampark/login.php).

2. Foreigners who need to travel to India (including OCI card holders) only in the most compelling circumstances (such as medical emergency, death of a kin etc.) can obtain a visa by visiting the Embassy directly during consular service hours (10:30 am – 12:30 pm, Mon- Fri) and may send an email with all related information, documents etc. in advance to expedite the process. Such visas will be decided on a strictly case-to-case basis by the Ministry of External Affairs, India. Applicants are expected to double check the status of their confirmed flights with the airline operators before applying for the visa to avoid the risk of cancellation/refusal by airlines to board. Such applicants may please go through the detailed instructions regarding the current visa restrictions issued by the Government of India at https://www.eoilisbon.gov.in/alert_detail/?alertid=180.

3. Also, a 3-day window starting from 16.03.20 – 18.03.20 between 10:30 am – 12:30 pm will be given to applicants to collect all those documents which have already been processed by the Embassy (with application status shown as ready in the Sampark System). No collection of documents will be allowed after 18.03.20 other than emergency cases. Applicants whose services are still pending are liable to provide their correct postal address to the embassy by email in order to avoid non delivery of the documents.

4. Applicants with a SEF appointment (only for Police Clearance Certificates PCC) within next one week can come to the embassy directly to obtain PCC. They will need to submit the proof of their SEF appointment letter, a complete and duly filled application form and other necessary documents (available on the website). Such PCCs may be processed and issued to the applicants without necessarily allowing them to enter the Consular Hall. Please mention correct mobile numbers so that the Embassy can inform the applicants for collection of their PCCs. Applicants are also advised to double check the validity of their SEF appointment for any likely suspension of services due to the coronavirus before coming to the embassy for a PCC.
