Launch of Hindi Translation of Fernando Pessoa’s Mensagem by Prof. Manjulata Sharma, Celebrating 50 Years of India-Portugal Diplomatic Relations

The Hindi translation of Fernando Pessoa’s renowned work Mensagem, translated by Prof. Manjulata Sharma, was officially launched as part of the yearlong celebrations marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between India and Portugal. The event highlighted the deepening cultural and linguistic exchanges between the two nations and reinforced the literary connection between Hindi and Portuguese.

Organized in collaboration with the Camões Institute, Grupo O Valor do Tempo, and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), India, the launch took place at the Camões Institute Auditorium, bringing together literary scholars, cultural enthusiasts, and dignitaries to commemorate this important milestone in Indo-Portuguese relations.

A special highlight of the evening was a mesmerizing dance performance, blending Indian classical music with verses from Pessoa’s poetry. This unique fusion created an enchanting artistic experience, beautifully illustrating the universality of literature and the power of cultural collaboration.

The Hindi translation of Mensagem serves as a literary bridge between two languages and cultures, fostering deeper appreciation and strengthening ties between India and Portugal.
