Honourable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Arrives in Lisbon, Portugal on 8th April 2025

The Honourable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, arrived in Lisbon, Portugal on 8th April 2025 for an official state visit, marking a historic moment in Indo-Portuguese relations. This visit is of great significance as it is the first visit by a President of India to Portugal in 27 years, underscoring the deepening ties and growing bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

Upon her arrival, President Murmu was warmly received at the Lisbon Military Air Base by a distinguished welcomed by Shri Puneet R. Kundal, Ambassador of India to Portugal, and Dr. Arundhatie Kundal, Spouse of the Ambassador. Also present to welcome the Honourable President were senior Portuguese dignitaries and protocol officers, including:

- Colonel Vítor Severiano, Base Commander of the Military Unit  
- Mr. Vaz Patto, Chief of Protocol  
- His Excellency Mr. João Ribeiro de Almeida, Ambassador of Portugal to India  
- Mr. Bruno Bonifácio, Senior State Protocol Officer  and
- Colonel Rohan Falnikar, the Defence Attaché accredited to Portugal with based in Rome,

These distinguished officials were present to extend a warm welcome to President Murmu.
