A Euro 37 Million auto-components plant with 100% Indian investment by Sakthi Automotives was inaugurated at Agueda in Portugal by the Portuguese Prime Minister H.E. Antonio Costa and the Ambassador of India to Portugal Mrs. K. Nandini Singla on 18 February. Noting that “this investment signals a turning point” in Portugal’s economy, Prime Minister Costa tweeted, “this investment of 37 Million Euros in Agueda brings with it the creation of 135 jobs, 40 of which are highly qualified”. Along with the plant, Sakthi Automotives has also set up a training foundation for advanced skill training and research in automotives.
This is a concrete example of accelerated trade and investment ties between India and Portugal, following the successful State Visit to India by the Prime Minister of Portugal, H.E. Antonio Costa from 7-12 January.
