Advisory regarding acceptance of Police Clearance Certificate applications by Post

This is to inform that the Embassy has decided to start accepting applications for PCCs by post. The procedure of sending the application is mentioned below.

1. The postal services has been opened ONLY for PCC applications, NO other applications (such as renewal of passport or renunciation, attestations etc.) will be accepted by post.

2. Procedure to be followed for sending PCC application by Post:

  • The applicant needs to fill the form through the following link – https://portal3.passportindia.gov.in/Online/index.html, Print the duly filled-in form, sign it and paste the recent photograph with white background on the form.

  • Fill the Online Form (available at https://zfrmz.eu/AqiYuhYkuTIo9ctGVfij/?referrername=EoILisbon). After submitting the form successfully, if the Request is APPROVED, you will get an email with Unique Reference Number (URN No). If the Request is REJECTED for some reason, your application will not be accepted if you send the application by Post.

  • Please write the URN No you have received in the APPROVAL email, on the top Left/Right corner of the envelope, in which you are sending the PCC application and other documents. The envelopes which are sent without writing this number, will not be accepted/processed.  

  • Please send the filled in a) PCC application, b) original and valid Passport along with a photocopy of the passport, c) Copy of any Residence proof (Junta/NIF/NISS) of Portugal or valid Portuguese residence permit copy d) Postal order of 26 Euros, to the Address: Consular Section, Embassy of India, Lisbon, Rua Pero Covilha No. 16/16A, Restelo, Lisbon, Portugal, Postal Code 1400-297.

3. Please note that the postal order of 26 Euros, should be in favor of Embassy of India, Lisbon. Postal orders are issued by the CTT (Portuguese Post Office). Postal draft should have the applicant´s name, ,address and Passport number for verification and to start processing of the application.

4. Incomplete applications will not be accepted and will be sent back to the applicant.

5. The Embassy holds no responsibility if the passport is reported lost by the CTT or any other courier companies during the transit.

6. Applicants are responsible for providing the correct address. The PCC(s) along with the Passport(s), will be sent back to the applicant, once ready. No in-person collection is allowed at the Embassy.

7. The normal processing time for the issuance of PCC is at least 30 working days. The applicants can track their applications through the ARN number (mentioned on the form, below the bar code) on the same link of PSP - https://portal3.passportindia.gov.in/Online/index.html.  No inquiries over email/phone will be entertained before the normal processing time.
