Consular Services & Fees

An appointment is mandatory for all passport, consular, visa and OCI services. Fees shown are effective from 01 July 2026. ICWF and postal charges are payable in addition to the service fee.

Passport Services

Required documents
  • Duly filled passport application form — Passport Seva portal

  • Original and copy of valid residence permit. If the applicant does not hold a residence permit, any four proofs are accepted (Junta, NIF, Social Security contribution statement, or work contract carrying the employer's email, telephone, full address and NIF).

  • Passport and residence card copies of both parents. If the parents do not hold a residence permit, any four proofs are required (Junta, NIF, Social Security contribution statement, work contract with employer contact details).
  • Both parents must sign the form. If one parent is not living in Portugal, an authority letter (NOC) attested by the Indian Embassy in that country, with ID proof, must be submitted.

  • Duly filled child's birth registration form — Indian Citizenship Online
  • Original and photocopy of the child's birth certificate
  • Parents' marriage certificate, apostilled by the Ministry of External Affairs, India. Where there is no marriage certificate, a sworn affidavit by both parents.
  • Parents' signatures on the form, with passport and residence proof copies. If one parent is not living in Portugal, an attested authority letter (NOC) with ID proof is required.

Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)

Emergency & Travel Documents

A person who has ceased to be an Indian citizen must surrender documents acquired on the basis of Indian citizenship (Voter ID, Aadhaar and similar) to the authorities concerned. Persons of Indian Origin intending to apply for an OCI card should complete the surrender of their Indian passport first.

  • This service applies only to Indian nationals holding an Indian passport, not to those who already hold foreign or Portuguese nationality.
  • Apply online at Indian Citizenship Online — Renounce
  • Once the renunciation certificate is issued, the Indian passport must be surrendered following the standard procedure.

Certificates listed from the Portuguese death certificate onwards must be translated into English and notarised by a Portuguese notary. Once the death certificate is issued and the documents attested, the funeral agency uploads them via ecare.mohfw.gov.in.

  • The Embassy does not issue bachelorship certificates.
  • Where the applicant already holds a bachelorship or eligibility-of-marriage certificate issued by a court of law in India and apostilled by the Ministry of External Affairs (Consular Division), Patiala House, New Delhi, no additional attestation by this Embassy is required.

Attestation

The Embassy can attest a Power of Attorney only for Indian passport holders and OCI card holders. Other nationals who do not hold an OCI card must have documents apostilled by the Portuguese authorities.
